Queer Black Cinema and House of Xavier are joining together to pay tribute to the Ball Lengends of our time. Some of the greats, like Pepper Labeija, Marcel Christian, Eriq Christian Bazaar, Gerald Dupree Labeija, and the late Willi Ninja will be honored in New York City next Thursday, Sept. 28th @ 7PM.
Event host Emanual Xavier will be presenting a photo montage and perhaps some beautiful spoken word pieces. Gay film director Wolfgang Busch has added "How Do I Look" (which features the late Willi Ninja) to his film credits and Queer Black Cinema will be providing a special screening for it. It's a wonderful thing to give homage to those who have paved the way for us today. I honestly don't know where many of us would be today, without idoling their courage and audacity to be OUT, PROUD, and above all else, TRUE to self. My hope is that every new generation will take us further to what we fight for as lesbian, gay, and queer individuals: to be recognized and revered. Not only for being fabulous. But rather, for being OUTstanding. Out District would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Willi Ninja. Vogueing truly became an art form, because of him. He will sincerely be missed. Remember folks: Closets are for clothes. CLICK HERE FOR EVENT FLYER Until next time! Visit the OutDistrict EVENTS section for ticket information.
