HEALTH - Sexuality
Written by Nina Rossi
ImageIt turns out that there may be more lesbian and bisexual women than the government originally thought. Imagine that! The CDC (Center for Disease Control) and NCFHS (National Center for Health Statistics) conducted a study of men and women to analyze sexual orientation, behavior, and attraction. The study group age range was 15-44 and over 12,500 participants.

Here are the numbers:  (Click here for full report)

  • 4% of females had a sexual experience with another female in the past 12 months.
  • 11% of women had a same-sex sexual experience in their lifetime. This was much higher than researchers expected.
  • 4.1% of women had oral sex with another woman in a 1992 study. The latest study used the term "sexual experience" to be more inclusive.
  • 3% of women have had sex with both males and females in the last 12 months.

More than 4% have had bisexual experiences

We all know that many of us have behaved in complete contradiction to our orientation. Hopefully, soon the pressure to live a closet lifestyle will be a thing of the past. Just remember girls, BE SAFE!

Until next time!
