OutdistrictAs part of an innovative new strategy, QNortheast Magazine is offering editor positions to future business owners, community leaders and other young GLBT visionaries.

This newly created quarterly editor position is open to active members of GLBT student organizations and gay-straight alliances between the ages of 18 and 26 years old. Applicants don't have to be "straight A students" or class presidents. Applicants need to be able to envision a positive future for themselves, for society (gay, straight and other) and must have a strong desire to communicate their ideals and suggestions for attaining such a positive future.

The new quarterly editor position is a three-month term (quarterly) followed by a 12-month editor listing and photo in the masthead of QNortheast Magazine. Quarterly youth editor responsibilities include a monthly "letter from the editor," as well as gathering content for the coming month's feature story. Yearbook or school newspaper experience is helpful, but not required. A monthly stipend of $200 will be paid monthly as a “freelance youth editor.”

Following each three month term, quarterly editors will have seniority preference to suggest and publish monthly content based on their personal interests (business, marketing, arts and culture, social change, entertainment, technology, etc).

“The most innovative ideas often come from the minds of our youth, but they are often the last to be heard” Editor Wes Bennett said in a release. “Now, they can be assured of having their voices heard consistently, across the Northeast region in print, and on the web, nationally and internationally. Our community is suffering from a lack of positive role models and fresh ideas. Sadly, the ‘old guard’ within the gay community (business owners and community leaders) often value our GLBT youth as ‘fresh meat’ instead of valuing them as human beings with potential to change the world.”

GLBT students (18-26) can apply for editor positions with QNortheast Magazine by sending an e-mail to mailto: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or by downloading an editor application at www.qnortheast.com . The application process must be overseen and approved through your school's GLBT student association or gay/straight alliance.
